Rules / Requirements

  • All entries must be original and submitted by the poem’s original author
  • All poems must be 24 lines or fewer
  • All entries must be word processed, double spaced with 12 point font
  • Submissions are accepted from Ephrata Area students only

Submission procedures

  • Submit all entries to a librarian in the media center
  • All entries must be submitted with a completed Big Write contest entry form
  • Contestant’s name should only appear on the content entry form

Ethics Essay Prompt

All essays should respond to the following prompt: "In today’s society, cheating, and misrepresentation are commonplace. We are surrounded by stories of steroid using sports stars, plagiarizing authors, and dishonest financiers. In an essay of 500 words or less, describe how one creates and adheres to a personal code of ethics."

Rules / Requirements

  • All entries should consist of a story of 25 words or less. Hint fiction entries do not need a definitive beginning , middle, or end. However, stories should evoke a strong emotional response. According to Robert Swartwood, hint fiction editor, these stories "can have as much impact as a story 2,500 words or longer."
  • Submissions are accepted from Ephrata Area students only
